Ben Roethlisberger did enough complaining about wanting a big wide receiver. Now, he got his answer in…Matt Trannon?
There is no doubt that Trannon is a big man, but whether he will be worth anything to the Steelers remains to be seen. At 6’6″ and 235 pounds, Trannon went undrafted and signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2007 only to be cut in training camp. He never saw the field, but bounced around several practice squads last year.
Put him on your DEEP sleeper list for right now. He hasn’t even made a team yet, but since Big Ben wants a big target, Trannon might be able to make it happen. He could be the breakout red zone target of the Steelers for 2008 if he can get in shape.
Let’s see if he shows up after Pittsburgh Steelers camp when preseason kicks off. A few pounds lighter and quicker, and you might have a fantasy steal on your hands come 2008.
